Ryan Hanrahan is a Director of Wave International, a resource development consultant with specific expertise in the battery and tech metals sector.
Wave International’s ultimate vision is to support the continued trend of electrification by sustainably and ethically developing supply side projects that have a strategic fit into the global market.
This is Ryan’s key focus within the organisation, and Ryan invests a significant amount of effort in being exposed to all aspects of the market from supply side projects, downstream value add operations, end users, financiers, investors and technology partners.
Ryan’s background in the sector commenced in the early 2000’s as a consulting engineer to the Greenbushes operations in WA. Since that time Ryan has become heavily involved in the lithium sector, working across numerous spodumene, mica and downstream chemical projects. These projects span Australia, Canada, Europe and South America.
In more recent years, Ryan’s involvement in the battery / tech minerals sector has expanded to vanadium, graphite and cobalt.
Ryan is currently intimately involved in the development of an Australian graphite project, including value added downstream production of uncoated purified spherical graphite. A key involvement in this project has been the structuring of commercial partnerships to underpin financing in what is currently a challenging debt market.
In the cobalt sector, Ryan is currently overseeing work to apply a new process technology to the extraction of cobalt from low grade above ground resources.
Vanadium, being a strong feature of this year’s Mines and Money Asia, has also become a major focus for Ryan. Ryan is currently involved in the assessment and feasibility of numerous significant vanadium resources, both primary and secondary. Ryan’s work in this space involves alignment of supply projects with the demand side customers, application of new technologies to non traditional resource types, and developing project delivery strategies that support funding.
