Geoff Cowley has been CEO of major corporations in Africa, Russia, UK, China and the Middle East, including senior executive positions in Anglo American Corporation, De Beers, British Energy, British Rail, Murray and Roberts, the Press Corporation, Basic Element, Kinross (Russia), Maple Minerals Corporation, White Tiger Gold and CIC Gold Group. Geoff have advised several governments on economic growth and expansion (Oman, Malawi, South Africa and Romania), including the industrial rebuilding of several countries in Eastern Europe, following which for several years was Senior Advisor on African affairs (Political and Economic), to the World Economic Forum attending the annual meeting of government and business leaders at Davos.
Geoff Cowley has been responsible for several major international construction and infrastructure development projects. In addition to which he negotiated and closed over 30 M&A deals .
While CEO of Press Corporation he was chairman of all its subsidiary companies and JV’s ; National Bank of Malawi, Limbe Leaf Tobacco, Malawi Pharmaceuticals, Carlsberg Malawi, BP Malawi, Ethco Ltd, Press Trading Corporation , First Discount House (Malawi) Ltd, Southern Bottlers Ltd, PressCane Ltd, Press Properties Ltd, Malawi Distilleries.
Currently, in addition to being a director of Onyx Capital Partners Ltd, (FCA regulated) he is a director of several mining companies in Europe, Africa and China and Chairman of the Energy Mining Advisory Partnership. I have recently been appointed as an advisor to the Investment Board of Cedrus Investments Ltd (Hong Kong)
He is a regular speaker at International Mining, Energy and Financing conferences and has a post graduate degree in Engineering. He is a chartered engineer, hold fellowships of several major professional institutions in the UK. In 2014 he was the recipient of the Medal for Excellence, awarded for outstanding contribution to the global mining industry, by the institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the UK.
