Chris Hinde is an independent consultant, having founded Pick and Pen Ltd on his corporate retirement in September 2018. The company offers advice, and regular written reports, on trends and business opportunities in the international mining industry, and training webinars/seminars.
Until his retirement, Chris Hinde was the Reports Director, Metals & Mining, for New York-based S&P Global Market Intelligence (formerly McGraw-Hill Financial), with prime responsibility for the quarterly State of the Market publication.
Based in London, Chris is a regular presenter at conferences, and runs training courses, entitled ‘Inside Mining’, for non-mining professionals. A qualified Mining Engineer (with a BSc and PhD from Cardiff University), Chris has extensive mining experience, including underground work with Anglo American Corp in South Africa, consultancy with both SRK in Johannesburg and Golder Associates in the UK, and stockbroking with Schroder Securities in London. In addition to South Africa, his mining experience includes work in Botswana, Malaysia and Turkey.
Before joining IntierraRMG (subsequently SNL Metals & Mining, which was acquired in turn by McGraw-Hill in September 2015), Chris was Editorial Director of Aspermont UK, whose publications include the weekly Mining Journal and monthly Mining Magazine. He was instrumental in launching the Mines and Money series of conferences.
