Before joining Sunshine for Mines, Alastaire Dick was the Group Energy Specialist for Gold Fields Limited responsible for guiding the Gold Fields group in energy security planning (including renewables), energy efficiency, and carbon emissions reduction.
Alastaire has previous experience as a renewable energy program manager having worked in managing large-scale wind and solar PV programmes. At the start of his working career he began working for the Energy Research Institute (now the Energy Research Centre) at the University of Cape Town and was involved with energy modeling that contributed to South Africa’s White Paper on Energy. Anthony Milewski has spent his career in various aspects of the mining industry, including as a company director, advisor, founder and investor.
Anthony has managed numerous mining investments at various stages of development, including exploration, development, production and turnaround situations, and across a broad range of commodities. Chris Powell has been managing editor of the Journal Inquirer, a daily newspaper in Manchester, Connecticut, since 1974. He began working at the paper when he left high school in 1967. Colin Moorhead has worked in exploration and mining for 3 decades since graduating from the University of Melbourne with a BSc. (Hons) majoring in geology and geophysics in 1987.
Most of his career was spent with Newcrest Mining Limited where amongst other roles he was Chief Geologist for periods at Telfer (WA), Cadia (NSW) and Gosowong (Indonesia) mines before returning to Melbourne as General Manager Technical Services for the Newcrest Group in 2006.

He has been awarded inter alia the prestigious Leopold von Buch Medal for Science, the Centenary Medal, the Eureka Prize (twice) and is a Fellow of the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. He has published more than 130 scientific works and is author of Ian Plimer’s main geological interests are in ore deposits in base metal deposits (particularly in Broken Hill; epithermal precious metals, Sn-W systems). He serves on the Boards of listed public companies (Ivanhoe Australia Ltd, Niuminco Group Ltd, Kefi Minerals Ltd) and unlisted companies (such as Roy Hill Holdings Pty Ltd and TNT Mines Ltd).
He also served on the Board of the ASX-listed CBH Resources (1998-2010) until it was acquired by Toho Zinc and continues to advise Toho Zinc.

Jacqui Murray joined RCF in 2012 after working in business analysis and improvement roles with BHP Billiton. Prior to this she worked in various geotechnical engineering roles in underground and open pit operations within BHP Billiton and WMC Resources. Jay Hambro joined the Gupta Family Group (GFG Alliance), which controls commodities, energy and industrial interests worldwide in January 2016 as a senior member of its Group management team. Mr Hambro is the Group’s Chief Investment Officer, SIMEC’s CEO of Mining and Energy and leads GFG’s investment into the banking sector.
Mr Hambro has been executive chairman of Sino-Russian Hong Kong exchange listed industrial commodities champion IRC since 2010 and is a well-known figure in the international mining and commodities industry.
Mr Hambro’s primary role at GFG and SIMEC is focusing on the aggressive worldwide development of SIMEC (Shipping, Industrials, Mining, Energy & Commodities), which currently includes a power generating arm and a global portfolio of trading operations focused on the resources sector. One of his immediate roles will be to lead the completion of the purchase of the Tungsten Bank which GFG recently entered into an agreement to acquire, as part of its broader strategy to invest in finance for the commodities industry. This is subject to the approval of the Prudential Regulation Authority.
After graduating in business management, Mr Hambro began his career in resource finance with NM Rothschild & Sons, before moving to the investment bank of HSBC, advising multinational mining groups. He then joined what is now the Petropavlovsk plc group in a business development role and later as Chief Investment Officer before spearheading the development of their industrial commodity divisions as Aricom plc (FTSE listed) and more recently at IRC Limited.

Keith Barron is an exploration geologist with over 33 years experience in the mining sector. He has consulted on all continents except for Antarctica, searching for commodities such as gold, silver, diamonds, uranium, copper, platinum, and industrial minerals. In 2001 he privately co-founded Ecuador gold explorer Aurelian Resources Inc., which was listed on the TSX-V in 2003 and made the colossal Fruta del Norte gold discovery in 2006. The company was bought by Kinross Gold in 2008 for $1.2 billion. He is the founder and a Director of Guyana, Colombia and Argentina uranium explorer U3O8 Corp (TSX:UWE). He is also Chairman and Director of Firestone Ventures (TSXv:FV) and President of private sapphire miner Potentate Mining in Montana, USA.
At the PDAC convention in March 2008 he was awarded the Thayer Lindsley International Discovery Award for his role in the discovery of the Fruta del Norte gold deposit and he was also jointly named the Northern Miner’s Mining Man of the Year 2008. As a field geologist, Keith Spence has experience in gold and base metals exploration in the Canadian north, China and internationally. Krzysztof (Kris) Biegaj the co-founder and current Director/Owner of the Ausvac Mining Pty Ltd is a qualified mining engineer (Poland) with 30 years+ experience in: underground coal mining in Poland (1977 – 1985) and since 1986 living and working in/from Australia: Western Australian Department of Mines, (including 2.5 years as District Inspector of Mines in Kalgoorlie/Deputy Regional Mining Engineer), followed by management of underground nickel and gold mines (including open pit operations), then mine management of gold and metalliferous mines (both underground and open pit) in Far-East Siberia in Russia, Kazakhstan, Australia and Ghana.
With then business partner, Ausvac Mining Pty Ltd was established in 2000 in Kalgoorlie, where the first in Australia truly mobile underground supersucker/a giant vacuum cleaner was designed and constructed, to carry out underground winzing and to recover high-grade ore material from mines’ floors and sumps and carrying out mill clean-downs on the surface.
Most recently, Kris Biegaj has been working as a Mining Consultant (Business Improvement) in Australia, Russia, Ghana, Mongolia and Philippines. Marco Arosti has over 16 years of investment banking experience in Europe and Hong Kong combined. Prior to joining Cedrus, he was the Corporate Finance Director at Platinum Securities, a Hong Kong-based financial boutique. He started his investment banking career at JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley in London. Then, he moved to Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong.
Afterwards he joined Daiwa Securities as the Asia Pacific Head of General Industries advising a wide range of clients on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital markets transactions.

Marcus Grimm is a restructuring and turnaround expert, who has spent his entire career managing a special investment situations. Altogether, he has more than 15 years experience in more than 80 mandates and deals of strategic, financial and operational advisory, as well as financial institution- and corporate restructurings and complete Private Equity turnarounds in a broad range of situations and industries. He was active on all six continents for Sandoz Corp. (Novartis) and for the Asian affiliates for UBS. Marcus was previously with Andersen Consulting (Accenture) as a Senior Manager – Strategy, Financial Institutions, for the Greater China region. More recently, Marcus has been managing turnaround situations in financial institutions, corporations and direct investments, and he presently serves on the board of various privately held companies. Marcus has a MBA from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania where he majored in Finance and International Management, and a degree from the School of Economics in Zurich.

Matt Fifield was a member of the senior management team at the Cline Group before joining Pacific Road Capital, working to build a coal company Foresight Energy from a greenfield start to become one of the most productive and profitable underground coal companies in the United States. Additionally, Matt served as a member of the Board of Directors of Natural Resource Partners (NYSE: NRP), a mineral royalty company; an investment professional at mining-focused investment firms AMCI Capital and Resource Capital Funds; and an investment banker at Warburg Dillon Reed. He began his career in the resources industry as an assistant on an exploration drill rig.

Michael Berry was born in Colombia, raised in Canada and has now lived in the US for many years. After earning a Ph.D. from Arizona State University (specializing in investment finance), he was a professor at the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. He followed winning the Wheat First Endowed Chair at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Neil Herberts departure from managing mining and energy investor Polo Resources, Investec Funds Insight wrote ‘Under Neil Herbert’s stewardship Polo returned $185m in special dividends following highly NAV accretive realisations and has strategically transitioned Polo’s resource focus.’ Polo outperformed all its peers during his time as Managing Director.
Prior to Polo he was Finance Director of mining investor Galahad which achieved an average 66%pa IRR. Neil became FD of its most successful investment UraMin Inc, which he took from start-up to $2.5bn takeover in 2 years with Galahad achieving an annualised return of 167%.
He worked with Antofagasta PLC during its 90s transformation into to one of the world’s largest copper producers with the $1.3bn Pelambres and $0.3bn Tesoro mines taken into production. After that he was CFO of gold explorer Brancote until its $0.4bn acquisition by Yamana.

Owen Hegarty has 40 years experience in the global mining industry, including 24 years with Rio Tinto where he headed Rio Tinto’s Asian and Australian copper and gold businesses. From the mid-1990’s, he led Oxiana Ltd from a junior explorer to a multi-billion dollar Asian and Australian explorer, developer and operator in base and precious metals.

Peter Rozenauers is the portfolio manager of Orion Mine Finance. Prior to Orion, Mr. Rozenauers was a Senior Investment Manager for the Red Kite Group’s Mine Finance business. Before joining Red Kite in 2012, Mr. Rozenauers was Managing Director and Head of Asian Commodities Distribution for Barclays Capital in Singapore, a leading commodity global investment bank. While at Barclays Capital he was engaged with pan‐Asian corporate and institutional business development across the metals, bulk commodities, energy and agricultural sectors with a particular focus upon financing and commodity risk management. Mr. Rozenauers has extensive experience in commodities, equities and FX having spent more than 13 years working in Singapore, London and New York. He was involved in the development of long dated gold loans and FX hedging to the Australian gold mining sector whilst at Macquarie Bank in the early 1990’s and has worked as a private Equity Consultant. Mr. Rozenauers earned a BEng (Honors 1) in Mining from the University of NSW and a Masters in Applied Finance from the University of Technology Sydney.
Randy Smallwood holds a geological engineering degree from the University of British Columbia, and is one of the founding members of Wheaton Precious Metals (NYSE: WPM).
In 2007, he joined Wheaton Precious Metals (Formerly Silver Wheaton) full time as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development, primarily focusing on growing the company through the evaluation and acquisition of silver stream opportunities. In January 2010 he was appointed President, and in April 2011 he was appointed Silver Wheaton’s Chief Executive Office. Thomas Puppendahl is an investment professional with over 20 years of experience in global capital markets as a portfolio manager, strategist, investment banker and analyst. He has managed sovereign debt, equity and macro portfolios and was an early investor in emerging markets and precious metals. Prior to setting up Chancery Asset Management, Mr Puppendahl worked with Merrill Lynch International, Ermgassen & Co, a London-based investment banking firm, and the Monitor Group, a global management consulting and private equity investment firm, in London and India.
Mr Puppendahl started his career as an analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions department of Merrill Lynch in London, where he worked on major international M&A transactions across multiple industry sectors and was instrumental in closing a high-profile $1.9 billion deal in the midst of the Asian crisis in 1998.
In 1999, Mr Puppendahl joined Ermgassen & Co, a London-based investment banking firm focused on European cross-border M&A advisory services. He advised some of the world’s largest and most reputable companies, such as Siemens, Chevron and Sanofi, on complex cross-border M&A transactions in various industry sectors with a focus on the technology, chemicals and biotech/pharmaceutical industries.
In 2005, Ermgassen & Co became a member of the Monitor Group (now Monitor Deloitte), a global strategy consulting firm founded by Harvard University Professor Michael Porter. As a Global Account Manager of the Monitor Group, Mr Puppendahl has advised numerous blue-chip clients on international growth strategies in India and other emerging markets and helped expand Monitor’s business in India to a new level. Following the acquisition of the Monitor Group by Deloitte in 2012, he continues to serve as a Senior Adviser to Ermgassen & Co.
Known for his contrarian and sometimes provocative ideas, Mr Puppendahl invested aggressively in Argentina’s bond restructuring in 2004/05 before the market realised the value embedded in the country’s GDP warrants, forecasted a four-digit gold price, and predicted the collapse of the US credit bubble in 2007.
Thomas Puppendahl holds Master’s degrees in both Physics and Business Administration from RWTH Aachen University, Germany. A native German speaker, he is fluent in English and French, and has basic knowledge of Hindi and Urdu.
Vincent Algar BSC (Hons) Geology, MAusIMM, is a geologist by profession with over 24 years’ experience in the mining industry spanning underground and open cut mining operations, greenfields exploration, project development and mining services in Western Australia and Southern Africa. He has significant experience in the management of publicly listed companies, which includes the entire compliance, marketing and management process and encompasses the development of internal geological and administrative systems, exploration planning and execution, plus project acquisition and deal completion. Vincent helped float and was Managing Director of Shaw River Manganese Limited from December 2006 – March 2012 and was responsible for successful capital raisings, which raised more than $40 million for the Company’s exploration and acquisition programs. He was instrumental in the $20 million acquisition of a 75.5% stake in the Otjo Manganese Project in Namibia, in 2011, which is currently being brought into production.
Vincent Algar has worked on a wide range of commodities most recently in base metals, and uranium in Southern Africa as a consultant and analyst. Vincent is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
Warren Gilman is the CEO & Chairman of CEF Holdings Ltd., which is owned 50% by Cheung Kong Holdings Ltd., the HK listed flagship company of Mr Li Ka-shing (Asia’s richest man), and 50% by Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, one of Canada’s largest banks.
Under the direction of Warren Gilman, the Chairman and CEO, CEF has refocused its business strategy on the resource sector and is investing its cash in resource development opportunities including mining, fertilizer and forest products. These investments are focused on both public and private companies and in both equity and structured debt facilities.
Yoad Reiter has 15 years of experience across capital markets, investment banking and asset management. Yoad joined Silversea Asset Management in 2012 after working at Bank of America Merrill Lynch investment banking division in Australia and Hong Kong. Prior to that, he was a capital market’s lawyer and worked for couple of years at the foreign securities desk of Bank Hapoalim BM.
Yoad has profound background and knowledge across fixed income, commodities, currencies and structured finance in multiple industries including financial institutions, energy and materials, and real estate. He provides client advice and manages portfolios specialising in global high yield and fixed income securities.
He is a Singapore Permanent Resident holding Israeli and Australian citizenships. He holds LLB from from Tel Aviv University and is a member of the Israeli Bar. He also graduated from the corporate finance and IB program at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Yoad speaks English, Hebrew and Spanish.

Yury Makarov has been the Chief Executive Officer of IRC Limited of Petropavlovsk PLC since August 25, 2010. Yury served as Chief Operating Officer of IRC Limited (alternate name, is Aricom PLC) and also as its Operations Director since April 2009. He has been actively involved in the development of Aricom Plc titanium dioxide business since 2002.
Yury Makarov served as Group Head of Non-Precious Metals Operations of Petropavlovsk PLC (formerly Peter Hambro Mining plc) until 2010. He served as Advisor to the President of OJSC Pokrovsky Rudnik, a subsidiary of Petropavlovsk PLC. Prior to this, he served as Commercial Director of NT Computers in Moscow, Russia.
Yury Makarov has been an Executive Director of IRC Limited since June 4, 2010 and served the same position from April 26, 2004 to April 22, 2004. He is a Qualified Systems Engineer from the Moscow State Aircraft Technology Institute in 1998.
