Alain Corbani joined FINANCE SA in July 2013 as Head of Mining and Natural Resources and portfolio manager of the Global Gold & Precious fund. From November 2008 to July 2013 he was COO of Commodities AM and portfolio manager of the same precious metal fund.
Under Alain’s tenure, the fund has achieved an 11% excess return vs. its benchmark, the FTSE Gold Mines Index, while displaying a lower volatility. It was the best performing precious metals fund among its French peers in 2009, 2010 and 2016. It is ranked number one over the last three years. Prior to managing the Global Gold and Precious fund, Alain worked for 17 years as a Sell-side analyst and investment banker, notably as Director of Dominion Securities, then RBC Capital Markets prior to founding Green Oak Securities.
He has developed an expertise in North American equity investing and financing of North American mining companies. Alain holds an MBA in International Management from George Washington University (USA).
Alastaire Dick is a Principal at RMI, directing the Mining Program. He focuses on driving renewable energy transition in the global mining industry towards 8GW of on-site capacity by 2025.
Highlights of this work include integrating 40MW of solar PV at Gold Fields South Deep mine in South Africa, modeling optimized renewables solutions for mines from development through operations to mine closure, developing renewables screening tools and advising mines on sustainable strategies for renewable energy transition.
In 2015 Alastaire was the Group Energy Specialist for Gold Fields Limited responsible for energy and carbon. From 2013 he was program manager on large-scale wind and solar PV programs in South Africa.
Alastaire has a Master’s in Sustainable Energy Engineering from The Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, a Master’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering both from the University of Cape Town. He is a registered Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Alastaire is passionate about leadership, integrated thinking, and renewable energy. He enjoys playing music, woodwork, and is fluent in Xhosa (one of the local South African languages).

He retired at the end of March 2015 and has been appointed as Advisor to World Gold Council since 1 April 2015. His marketing career began with Dentsu Young & Rubicam, Hong Kong in the early 80’s, moved on to gold marketing in July, 1985 when he joined the Royal Canadian Mint as a Regional Manager for S.E. Asia.

Andrew Heinrichs, VP Acquisition of Strategic Venture Fund joins the line up of speakers at this year’s Mines and Money Asia.
Dr Andrew is an exploration geologist with over 15 years’ experience in mineral exploration; primarily focused on project generation, project evaluation and exploration strategy development throughout Asia and Eastern Europe.
Andrew has particular expertise in porphyry copper-gold and epithermal gold deposits, but has worked across a diverse range of commodities. He holds a BSc (Hons) from Macquarie University and a PhD from the Centre of Ore Deposits and Exploration Studies at the University of Tasmania.
During his time at Ivanhoe Mines and Vale Andrew held various technical and management positions in Mongolia and Indonesia and has been involved in several green fields discoveries. After providing technical and program management for Vale in Indonesia and Mongolia, Andrew joined Xanadu Mines as Chief Geologist leading the gold and base metals project generation and evaluation team in Mongolia.
Andrew has been Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Xanadu Mines since 2016 and prior to that had been Chief Executive Officer.
Anthony Desir is SAMI’s head of Corporate Finance and the fund’s lead partner in Asia. He has had a 35 year career starting on Wall Street in 1981 where he worked as a banker and a management consultant to financial institutions. He is recognized as one of the region’s experts on China-Africa resource capitalization solutions. He personally managed the financing plan for equipment leasing during construction of Hong Kong’s Chep Lap Kok Airport from 1995 to 1997, managing the program with lead finance partner GE Capital and a group of regional and local banks. Bruce McLeod is a Mining Engineer with over 30 years of experience in all areas of the mining industry. Most recently he was the President & CEO of Mercator Minerals Ltd. Prior to that, he was the President, CEO and Director of Creston Moly Corp. as well as a founder of both Sherwood Copper Corp. and Stornoway Diamond Corporation. He also served on the Board of Directors of Palmerejo Silver and Gold Corp. (acquired by Coeur D’Alene Mines) and Ariane Gold (acquired by Cambior Inc.) and has been involved in numerous projects at various stages of development while with the Northair Group. Charles Hall is Non-Exec Chairman at Metal Tiger Plc and is an experienced International Banker with over 30 years with HSBC in a variety of Finance and Insurance roles. His last position was as CEO & MD HSBC Private Bank (Luxembourg) S.A. He has had significant overseas senior management experience as well as that of running complex businesses. Chris Powell is secretary/treasurer of the Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee Inc., which he co-founded in 1999 to expose and oppose the manipulation of the gold market and related markets.
He was managing editor of the Journal Inquirer, a daily newspaper in Manchester, Connecticut, from 1974 until retiring this year. He began working at the paper when he left high school in 1967. He continues to write a column about Connecticut issues that is published in a dozen other newspapers in the state and often appears on radio and television public-affairs programs in Connecticut.
From 2004 through 2009 he was legislative chairman of the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information. In 2006 he was inducted into the Academy of New England Journalists by the New England chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the New England Society of Newspaper Editors.
In addition to the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information, he is a member of the Connecticut, Manchester, and Vernon historical societies and the Churchill Centre.
Christopher Gale is the Managing Director of Latin Resources. , an Australian listed mineral exploration company with a specific focus on South America. Latin Resources was one of the very first Australian exploration companies commencing in 2008 to develop a portfolio of high quality, copper and lithium projects in Peru and Argentina.
Chris has extensive experience in senior management roles in both the public and private sectors, especially in commercial and financial roles.

Clifford Adams has over 35 years of experience in Mining & Mineral Processing. Clifford Adams worked in engineering design and operations in many different countries particularly in Africa, South America and Central Asia.
Currently a project manager for RG Gold, Clifford Adams has previously worked in senior positions with engineering companies including, Fluor and Bechtel and various mining companies including Anglo Platinum, Centerra Gold and most recently Teghout Mine.
He is a graduate of Royal School of Mines, Imperial College’s highest qualification – MSc(eng).
Clive Whittington is Managing Director of C.M. Whittington and Associates Ltd with offices in Hong Kong and Melbourne. His focus is on sales of primary nickel in Asia and with Hong Kong partners, is involved in LME hedging, physical logistics and technical sales support. Clive undertakes original R&D on the better use of nickel in end-use applications and provides consulting services to the global Nickel Institute, plus users of nickel in industry.
Prior to his own companies, he worked with Alcoa on aluminium and before that with Inco (now Vale) on nickel marketing. Clive is a graduate in metallurgy from Melbourne and a Chartered Professional Engineer.

He has been a journalist and editor for 26 years covering everything from wars in Africa to the current resources boom. Born in Glasgow, he has lived in Johannesburg, Sydney, Singapore and now splits his time between Tasmania and Asia. He writes about trends in commodity and energy markets, with a particular focus on the rise of China. In more than a decade of living in Australia, Clyde covered the rapid development of liquefied natural gas, iron ore and coal projects and the subsequent travails of over-supplied markets.
Prior to moving to Sydney, Clyde worked as an editor for Reuters in Johannesburg covering gold and precious metals as well as the development of post-apartheid South Africa. Before becoming a financial journalist in 1996, Clyde covered civil wars in Angola, Mozambique and other African hotspots for Agence-France Presse. The release of Nelson Mandela and South Africa’s often violent, but ultimately successful transition to democracy were early career highlights.

Colin Moorhead has worked in exploration and mining for 3 decades since graduating from the University of Melbourne with a BSc. (Hons) majoring in geology and geophysics in 1987.
Most of his career was spent with Newcrest Mining Limited where amongst other roles he was Chief Geologist for periods at Telfer (WA), Cadia (NSW) and Gosowong (Indonesia) mines before returning to Melbourne as General Manager Technical Services for the Newcrest Group in 2006.
In 2008 Colin was appointed Executive General Manager Minerals responsible for global exploration, mining geology, resources and reserves governance and orebody knowledge. Colin left Newcrest in August 2015 and in January 2016 was appointed Chief Executive Officer of emerging Indonesian gold producer PT Merdeka Copper Gold, Tbk.
Colin Moorhead is currently President of the AusIMM.

Mr Mason has a broad corporate, management and mining background achieved through working in the exploration and mining industry for 35 years throughout Australasia, Asia, Southern Africa and South America.
David is the Managing Director of Dark Horse Resources, a member of the DGR Global Group, focussing on mineral resources in South America. Dark Horse currently holds a large portfolio of lithium and gold properties in Argentina and intends to be a lithium hydroxide and gold bullion producer within several years.
Prior to this, David had executive director roles with Intra Energy Corporation Limited (ASX:IEC), a coal producer in East Africa; Overseas & General Limited (ASX:OGL) an Indonesian mining company; Haddington Resources (now Altura Mining, ASX:AJM) a new Australian Lithium producer; and the Swabara Group, which developed the Adaro Indonesia coal mine, the Pulau Laut shipping terminal and the 1,260MW thermal Paiton Power Station.
David holds a BSc (Hons) and a PGradDipBA from the University of Queensland and an MBA from University of Southern Queensland.
Dmitry is a private investor in mining. Dmitry started his career in PwC and Ernst & Young, where he was mining and metals leader covering M&A and capital markets in Russia and CIS. Dmitry also served as a managing director of Capital IG, multibillion USD asset management company. He was a director of Deloan Investments Limited, East Capital Partners (Hong Kong) and Asia Finance Strategies (Hong Kong). Dmitry was one of the founders of a leading PCI producer, where Dmitry achieved 2.5% global market share selling PCI to world’s largest steelmakers including Arcelor Mittal, Hebei Iron and Steel Group, Baosteel, Jianlong Steel, Xilin Iron and Steel Group, Achen Iron and Steel Group, Posco, Tata Steel, China Steel, ThyssenKrupp, CSA, SSAB, EVRAZ, NLMK and US Steel. Dmitry is a member of the board of directors of Terskaya Mining Company, palladium, platinum and base metals company (signed EPC with Sinosteel MECC that provides $150 mln financing) and KK, the second largest global alluvial platinum, palladium, iridium and rhodium producer (initially a joint venture with Anglo American, world’s largest platinum producer), that Dmitry helped put to production in 2016. Dmitry also serves as non-executive director of Eurasia Mining Plc listed on London Stock Exchange.
Dmitry is a member of the East India, Devonshire, Sports and Public Schools’ Club in London. He has diploma in finance from Finance University (Moscow). He holds advanced diploma in management accounting from Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (London).

Dr Pius Kasolo is well known and respected in the mining sector, for both his technical expertise in the field of mining exploration and for his acumen as a highly effective business strategist.
Dr Kasolo studied geology at the University Of Zambia School Of Mines; He holds an Msc. In Basin analysis from Nancy Ecole de mine, in France; a PhD in Economic Geology from the University of Southampton, UK; a Post-Doctoral Research (University of Southampton, UK); He has authored and co-authored numerous articles and has addressed international conferences and symposia on issues relating to the mining industry.
Dr. Kasolo has over 20 years of experience in the mining sector as a consultant and at senior management level, during which he has worked in, and provided consultancy services to, organisations with major international mining interests. He has undertaken various high level research studies, consultancy assignments and evaluations in the mining industry and other business sectors for the European Union, BHP, the University of Southampton and the Zambia Revenue Authority among others. He has held various senior positions in the mining industry including that of Exploration Manager for JCI Limited of South Africa (then Part of the Anglo American Corporation) covering various countries namely Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Ghana, Mali and Gabon. Dr. Kasolo has served as Director on several companies in Africa including Firestone an Australian Listed company.
Prior to becoming Chief Executive Officer of ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc in October 2014, Dr. Kasolo was owner and Chairman of Zambezi Holdings, a diversified investment company and Chief Executive Officer for Zambezi Mining Services (a concrete lining products firm based in South Africa).

Edward Gustely is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Penida Capital Advisors Ltd. He has over $30 billion of emerging market experience involving infrastructure and the digital economy, capital restructurings and business turnarounds, and has advised on $7.5 billion of securitization issues including the successful launch of Indonesia’s maiden 30-year global bond. Edward Gustely’s extensive international career has primarily focused on the emerging markets. Garrick Mendham is a qualified mining engineer with over 30 years’ experience in the mining sector and has lived and worked in Australia, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea across various commodity groups (gold, base metals, coal, molybdenum and vanadium) in operating, technical and commercial roles for both junior and large-scale mining and investment companies.

He has been awarded inter alia the prestigious Leopold von Buch Medal for Science, the Centenary Medal, the Eureka Prize (twice) and is a Fellow of the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. He has published more than 130 scientific works and is author of Ian Plimer’s main geological interests are in ore deposits in base metal deposits (particularly in Broken Hill; epithermal precious metals, Sn-W systems). Jay Hambro joined the Gupta Family Group (GFG Alliance), which controls commodities, energy and industrial interests worldwide in January 2016 as a senior member of its Group management team. Mr Hambro is the Group’s Chief Investment Officer, SIMEC’s CEO of Mining and Energy and leads GFG’s investment into the banking sector.
Mr Hambro has been executive chairman of Sino-Russian Hong Kong exchange listed industrial commodities champion IRC since 2010 and is a well-known figure in the international mining and commodities industry.
Mr Hambro’s primary role at GFG and SIMEC is focusing on the aggressive worldwide development of SIMEC (Shipping, Industrials, Mining, Energy & Commodities), which currently includes a power generating arm and a global portfolio of trading operations focused on the resources sector. Before joining SPIC, Dr. YU started her career as a consultant for the utility industry with Accenture. Dr. YU is graduated from Peking University with a double major in French and Economics and received a scholarship from the French government to continue her studies in France. Dr. YU has obtained two Masters’ degrees, in Development Economics and Project Management, at CERDI-CNRS in France, where she also received her PhD in Development Economics. Her research fields focus on Chinese “Go Global” empirical studies, Industrial Park and Special Economic Zones (SEZ) diagnosis, as well as China’s overseas investment and the interaction of the manufacturing, energy and mining sector and their roles in the process of industrialization for Belts & Roads countries.
With rich experiences in China’s overseas investments, Dr. YU has been invited to attend many international conferences as keynote speaker. She is also the only representative of the People’s Republic of China nominated for the “Future Energy Leader” from the World Energy Council. She is the FEL global board member and the key member of the development committee (2015-2017).
Jimmy Lim has over 18 years of finance, M&A and investment experience specialising in the Natural Resources (NR) sector. Prior to New Prospect Capital, Jimmy was MD at a leading Chinese fund in charge of investments in the NR sector.
Before embarking on a career in investment, Jimmy was an investment banker and has worked on numerous M&A and financing transactions in Australia, Africa, South America and Asia. He was a member of Goldman Sach’s Global Natural Resources team with responsibility over client coverage in Asia ex-China and previously held similar roles at Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong and JPMorgan in Australia.

John Lamb is an experienced business leader in the mining, construction, forestry and transport sectors. His career of over 30 years includes Chief Executive roles for Shaw Contracting (civil construction) and Lloyds North (transport and forest services) and multiple general management; regional management; and department head roles over three decades in base metals and gold throughout Australasia.
John Lamb led two mining business units for global major MMG and its predecessor companies OZ Minerals and Zinifex Limited: Rosebery, an underground polymetallic (zinc, lead, silver, copper and gold) mine that has been in production for 85 years; and Century, the world’s second-largest zinc mine and Australia’s single largest open pit. Until its closure in 2016, Century accounted for 4% of annual world zinc production, along with lead and silver.
John Lamb has built and managed mining operations throughout Australia and has served as a director on the boards of industry bodies, regional land management councils, a large pastoral company and several small businesses. He has consulted widely in the fields of business improvement, risk management and strategic planning.

Jorge was a founding member of the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. He is a Director of Offshore Bunkers Hong Kong, marine fuel trading company based in Hong Kong. He is also an advisor and shareholder of Standard Investment, a Mongolian Investment Bank.
Jorge is fluent in English, Hindi, Spanish and Portuguese and speaks conversational Chinese.
Juerg Kiener, Partner of at Swiss Asia Capital (Singapore) Pte Ltd and has more than thirty-five years’ experience in the banking industry, with extensive knowledge in the private banking, asset management and securities industries.

Keith Barron is an exploration geologist with over 33 years experience in the mining sector. Keith Barron has consulted on all continents except for Antarctica, searching for commodities such as gold, silver, diamonds, uranium, copper, platinum, and industrial minerals.
In 2001 Keith Barron privately co-founded Ecuador gold explorer Aurelian Resources Inc., which was listed on the TSX-V in 2003 and made the colossal Fruta del Norte gold discovery in 2006. The company was bought by Kinross Gold in 2008 for $1.2 billion. He is the founder and a Director of Guyana, Colombia and Argentina uranium explorer U3O8 Corp (TSX:UWE). He is also Chairman and Director of Firestone Ventures (TSXV:FV) and President of private sapphire miner Potentate Mining in Montana, USA. At the PDAC convention in March 2008 he was awarded the Thayer Lindsley International Discovery Award for his role in the discovery of the Fruta del Norte gold deposit and he was also jointly named the Northern Miner’s Mining Man of the Year 2008.
Keith Barron holds a PhD in Geology from the University of Western Ontario and a BSc. (Hons) in Geology from the University of Toronto. Keith Barron is currently an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Western Ontario.
Keith Spence held senior positions in investment banking & corporate banking, at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Capital Markets and Bank of Montreal (BMO) Capital Markets; where he was involved in corporate finance, mining finance, M & A and international transactions. He has been involved in numerous international financings.
He has conducted business in China, including numerous high-level negotiations and transactions; in China’s outbound investments in mining resources. He was also CEO of a foreign-joint venture mining company in western China. He is Co-Chairman of the Canadian mining valuation standards for mining projects; required by the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX-V) and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Keith Spence has written extensively on mining valuation. He has often been quoted in the media on international mining investments, in leading press such as Bloomberg, Financial Times of London, South China Morning Post, China Daily, CCTV, Chinese media, The Globe & Mail and Reuters.
As a field geologist, Keith Spence has experience in gold and base metals exploration in the Canadian north, China and internationally. He is a member of the Board of Directors of The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), the Board of Trustees of The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM); and is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD). He has been on the Boards of Ontario Place, the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), the Ivey Alumni Association (Toronto) and the International Board of China Mining (Tianjin, China). He was Chairman of the Toronto Gardiner Awards and was named a Trailblazer in the Toronto Trailblazer Leadership Series.

A Commonwealth Scholar, he is a graduate of the Global Management program at Harvard University, has an Honors B.Sc. in Geology (with Geophysics) from the University of Western Ontario, and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business

Krzysztof (Kris) Biegaj the co-founder and current Director/Owner of the Ausvac Mining Pty Ltd is a qualified mining engineer (Poland) with 30 years+ experience in: underground coal mining in Poland (1977 – 1985) and since 1986 living and working in/from Australia: Western Australian Department of Mines, (including 2.5 years as District Inspector of Mines in Kalgoorlie/Deputy Regional Mining Engineer), followed by management of underground nickel and gold mines (including open pit operations), then mine management of gold and metalliferous mines (both underground and open pit) in Far-East Siberia in Russia, Kazakhstan, Australia and Ghana.
With then business partner, Ausvac Mining Pty Ltd was established in 2000 in Kalgoorlie, where the first in Australia truly mobile underground supersucker/a giant vacuum cleaner was designed and constructed, to carry out underground winzing and to recover high-grade ore material from mines’ floors and sumps and carrying out mill clean-downs on the surface.

Markus Grimm is a restructuring and turnaround expert, who has spent his entire career managing a special investment situations. Altogether, he has more than 15 years experience in more than 80 mandates and deals of strategic, financial and operational advisory, as well as financial institution- and corporate restructurings and complete Private Equity turnarounds in a broad range of situations and industries. He was active on all six continents for Sandoz Corp. (Novartis) and for the Asian affiliates for UBS. Markus was previously with Andersen Consulting (Accenture) as a Senior Manager – Strategy, Financial Institutions, for the Greater China region. Matt Fifield was a member of the senior management team at the Cline Group before joining Pacific Road Capital, working to build a coal company Foresight Energy from a greenfield start to become one of the most productive and profitable underground coal companies in the United States. Additionally, Matt served as a member of the Board of Directors of Natural Resource Partners (NYSE: NRP), a mineral royalty company; an investment professional at mining-focused investment firms AMCI Capital and Resource Capital Funds; and an investment banker at Warburg Dillon Reed. He began his career in the resources industry as an assistant on an exploration drill rig.

Neil Herberts departure from managing mining and energy investor Polo Resources, Investec Funds Insight wrote ‘Under Neil Herbert’s stewardship Polo returned $185m in special dividends following highly NAV accretive realisations and has strategically transitioned Polo’s resource focus.’ Polo outperformed all its peers during his time as Managing Director.
Prior to Polo he was Finance Director of mining investor Galahad which achieved an average 66%pa IRR. Neil became FD of its most successful investment UraMin Inc, which he took from start-up to $2.5bn takeover in 2 years with Galahad achieving an annualised return of 167%.
He worked with Antofagasta PLC during its 90s transformation into to one of the world’s largest copper producers with the $1.3bn Pelambres and $0.3bn Tesoro mines taken into production. After that he was CFO of gold explorer Brancote until its $0.4bn acquisition by Yamana.

Nicholas Mather has been involved in the junior resource sector at all levels for 34 years, during which time has been instrumental in the delivery of major resource projects resulting in nine (9) corporate transactions delivering over five (5) billion dollars to shareholders.
Nicholas Mather is Managing Director and co-founder of DGR Global Limited, a resource company generator. He is currently CEO of SolGold plc, heading up a tier 1 copper gold porphyry in Ecuador. Nicholas Mather was co-founder and served as an Executive Director of Arrow Energy NL until 2004. Arrow Energy was acquired in 2010 by Shell and PetroChina, for a value of approximately $3.5 billion. Nick was founder and Chairman of Waratah Coal Inc. until December 2008 when it was acquired for $130m. He was co-founder and Non-Executive Director of Bow Energy Limited until its takeover by Arrow Energy Pty Ltd in January 2012 for approximately $550 million.
Nicholas Mather also drove, as CEO, the discovery of the Pooncarie Mineral Sands project for BeMaX Resources prior to its purchase (£350 million) and the generation of the bulk of the asset base for Northern Energy ($250 million). He was a founding director of Orbis Gold which was sold in 2014 for AU$178 million and sub underwrote the refinancing of Ballarat Gold prior to its AU$500 million takeover by Lihir Gold.

Owen is a Fellow and Former Director of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). He is also an advisor on mining and resources generally to a number of Government and industry associations.
In 2006, Owen was awarded the AusIMM Institute Medal for his leadership and achievements in the mining industry, and in 2008 he was awarded the GJ Stokes Memorial Award for his distinguished service to the mining industry.
Patrick Highsmith is a geological engineer and geochemist with 30 years experience in mining, including roles in operations, exploration, business development, and senior management with companies such as Rio Tinto, BHP, ALS Minerals, Newmont Mining, and Lithium One.
He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Colorado School of Mines. After investing the first 18 years of his career in highly technical roles with major and mid-tier companies, he transitioned into the junior sector. His background enables him to apply direct technical expertise to exploration and project development, but he maintains a keen interest in and focus on business development and team building. His career has taken him to more than 40 countries with exposure to approximately 275 projects.

Patrick has more than thirty years of international mining experience in technical (metallurgist), managerial, consulting, executive and director roles in all aspects of the industry from exploration through project development, mining and mine rehabilitation. He has operational experience in open cut, underground, and in-situ mining and related processing, on projects in the USA, Germany, Africa and Australia.
He has served as CEO/Managing Director of a number of publicly listed and private mining companies based in South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia, primarily involved with project development and company transitioning from exploration to production.
Mr Mutz is a Fellow of the AusIMM and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He holds a Bachelor of Science (honours) and an MBA from the University of Phoenix in the US.
Prior to joining Image, Patrick was CEO of Murray Zircon Pty Ltd, the owner and operator of the Mindarie Mineral Sands Project in South Australia.
Peter Deneen has worked as a metals trader in and around China for more than 25 years, formerly based in Beijing as Chief Representative of Cometals, a division of the Commerical Metals Company (NYSE: CMC). He later headed up Samsung America’s global alumina team, a major supplier to the Chinese aluminium industry. Peter also knows the copper industry, having traded copper cathodes and concentrates for many years, and was a former board member of Erdmin, Mongolia’s only refined copper and wire rod producer.
More recently, Peter was Senior Vice President of Jinchuan Group International Resources, where he established the base metals trading business based in Hong Kong, and also played an active role in the company’s overseas asset acquisitions, including the acquisition of Metorex Limited, a former Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed company. Peter served on the Board of Directors of Metorex for 4 years, making frequent visits to the company’s operating mines and development projects in Zambia and the DRC.
He holds a master’s degree in International Management (M.I.M.) from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird), and an undergraduate degree in China Studies from Hampshire College in Amherst MA. Peter speaks Mandarin Chinese fluently.
Peter Steenkamp was appointed chief executive officer and executive director on 1 January 2016. He has some 38 years’ experience in the mining industry, including his last position as Senior Vice President: Mining of Sasol Mining Proprietary Limited, and executive positions at Harmony, from 2003 to 2007, and at African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) and Pamodzi Gold.
He is a member and past president of the Association of Mine Managers of South Africa, and a member of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the South African Colliery Managers’ Association.

Randy Smallwood holds a geological engineering degree from the University of British Columbia, and is one of the founding members of Wheaton Precious Metals (NYSE: WPM).
In 2007, he joined Wheaton Precious Metals (Formerly Silver Wheaton) full time as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development, primarily focusing on growing the company through the evaluation and acquisition of silver stream opportunities. In January 2010 he was appointed President, and in April 2011 he was appointed Silver Wheaton’s Chief Executive Office. Richard Schodde has over 30 years experience in a wide variety of project analysis and strategic planning roles within the international resources industry – including 15 years at WMC (in its Business Development Group and as Strategic Planning Manager for the Exploration Division) and more recently, 4 years at BHP Billiton (as Minerals Economist in their Global Exploration Team). In 2008 he founded MinEx Consulting to provide strategic and economic advice to mining and exploration companies.
From his work Richard Schodde has developed a deep understanding of the drivers behind mineral exploration and the associated economic and business risks of mining. This underpins his work in helping companies identify how to make money out of exploration.
Richard Schodde holds a First Class Honours Degree in Materials Engineering and a MBA. Along the way he has become experienced in geology. He serves on a number of industry committees including the AusIMM and the Melbourne Mining Club. In 2009 he was appointed an Adjunct Professor at the School of Earth Sciences at UWA (Centre for Exploration Targeting) and is a member of SEG, SME and PDAC. He has also on the Editorial Board for the Journal for Resources Policy – an international journal devoted to minerals policy and economics, aimed at economists and decision-makers in academia, government and industry Richard has published several papers on exploration performance and is internationally recognized by his peers as a world leader in mineral economics. Rob Wrixon has 19 years commercial experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, mining M&A and resource exploration management. He was previously MD of two ASX listed mining companies: Haranga Resources (focusing on iron ore in Mongolia) and Manhattan Corporation (uranium in Western Australia).
Rob spent five years in corporate strategy for Xstrata Coal in Sydney and Xstrata plc based in London, prior to the Glencore merger. He also served as Xstrata’s representative on the marketing board of the Cerrejon Coal joint venture in Colombia.
Robert Friedland is the founder of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (formerly Ivanplats Limited) and has been the Executive Chairman and director since November 2000. He was formerly President of the company from June 2003 to May 2008.
Mr. Friedland was the founder of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (now Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd.) and served as Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until April 2012. He directed the assembly by Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. of a portfolio of interests in several countries over 15 years and led the company’s discoveries and initial development of the Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold-silver deposits in southern Mongolia.
Mr. Friedland also is Chairman and President of Ivanhoe Capital Corporation, a private company based in Singapore that specializes in providing venture capital and project financing for international business enterprises, predominantly in the fields of energy and minerals.
In January 2016, Mr. Friedland was one of five industry leaders who were inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, based in Toronto, which cited his company-building and exploration achievements, and presented him as “a dynamic, transformative force in the Canadian and international mining industries” and “one of the most recognized mining personalities and achievers in the world”. Mr. Friedland said he shared the honour with several teams of dedicated individuals whose efforts with his companies during the past 30 years had contributed to a series of notable discoveries.
In March 2012, Mr. Friedland was recognized as Mining Personality of the Year at the inaugural Asia Mining Awards, sponsored by the Mines & Money conference and the Asia Mining Club in Hong Kong, which cited his role in Mongolia’s emergence as a major destination for mining investment. Ivanhoe Mines Ltd.’s Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold mining complex was voted Project Development of the Year.
Mr. Friedland received the Dealmaker of the Year award for Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. from Australia’s Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum in August 2011. In June 2009, Canada’s Northern Miner publishing group named Mr. Friedland one of Canada’s Super Seven Dynamos who have track records of turning junior companies into major success stories. The publishing group also named him the 2006 Mining Person of the Year for his success in negotiating a strategic partnership with Rio Tinto International Holdings Limited to develop Ivanhoe Mines Ltd.’s Oyu Tolgoi project in Mongolia. The Mongolian government’s Foreign Investment and Foreign Trade Agency recognized Mr. Friedland with consecutive Investor Envoy of the Year awards in 2003 and 2002.

Robert Richards is a space entrepreneur and futurist. He is a Co-Founder of the International Space University, Singularity University, SEDS, the Space Generation Foundation and Moon Express, where he currently serves as CEO.
Bob studied aerospace and industrial engineering at Ryerson University; physics and astronomy at the University of Toronto; and space science at Cornell University where he became special assistant to Carl Sagan. In 1987 Bob co-founded the International Space University (ISU); today a global institution with a central campus in Strasbourg, France. While a student in the 1980’s he also co-founded the Space Generation Foundation and the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS).

Mr. Scott Williamson is a Managing Director at Blackstone Minerals Limited since October 2017. Mr. Williamson served as Investor Relations Manager at Resolute Mining Limited, where he was responsible for marketing, communications and managing relationships with analysts, stockbrokers and institutional investors. Working for the United Nations Mineral Resources Group a hundred-plus advisory missions took him to over forty developing countries during ten years. He was chairman of the 1st CIM Risk Management in Mining Symposium, Vancouver, Canada.
Simon Handelsman’s many publications include those with a focus on issues faced by the mining industry. He was a guest lecturer at both New York University and Columbia University, and is an Adjunct Professor in the mining department at UBC. Simon is a consultant to the construction and mining department at Cooper Gay, the leading global independent wholesale, reinsurance and specialist retail insurance broker.

During 2013-2014 Mr Mitchell was Managing Director of Asiatic Gold Ltd, an unlisted public company with gold exploration and development projects in South Korea, a company he subsequently acquired in 2016.

Stefan White is a Portfolio Manager at LIM Advisors, a Hong Kong based investment manager established in 1995 and with total assets under management of approximately US$2bn.
Stefan’s mandate at LIM includes private debt investments in mining and mining services.
Prior to joining LIM Stefan worked in an executive finance capacity with a large Indonesian coal mining conglomerate. Thomas Puppendahl is an investment professional with over 20 years of experience in global capital markets as a portfolio manager, strategist, investment banker and analyst. Prior to setting up Chancery Asset Management, Mr Puppendahl worked with Merrill Lynch International, Ermgassen & Co, a London-based investment banking firm, and the Monitor Group, a global management consulting and private equity investment firm, in London and India.
Mr Puppendahl started his career as an analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions department of Merrill Lynch in London, where he worked on major international M&A transactions across multiple industry sectors and was instrumental in closing a high-profile $1.9 billion deal in the midst of the Asian crisis in 1998.
In 1999, Mr Puppendahl joined Ermgassen & Co, a London-based investment banking firm focused on European cross-border M&A advisory services. Vijay Kumar Banty has qualified First Class Manager’s certificate of competency Examination(Coal) 2013 under the Mines Act,1952, Government of India.
He has 5 years of comprehensive experience in both opencast as well as underground mines in different capacities, having experience working on various field based projects as HEMMs fleet productivity improvement, fragmentation improvement etc. and delivered innovative solutions.
Vijay Kumar Banty is currently working as Manager(Mining) at Jharia Division of Tata Steel, India and is responsible for underground operation as well as one opencast project and leading a team of 150+ employees(including contractors as well as the company)
Vijay Kumar Banty has represented the company in International Symposium on Rock Fragmentation by Blasting ( held the 24th-29th November 2012, New Delhi, India) –He was the recipient of the I.I.T. Scholarship-2006, chosen as one of 35 students funded by Government of Bihar.
Vincent Algar BSC (Hons) Geology, MAusIMM, is a geologist by profession with over 25 years’ experience in the mining industry spanning underground and open cut mining operations, greenfields exploration, project development and mining services in Western Australia and Southern Africa. He has significant experience in the management of publicly listed companies, which includes the entire compliance, marketing and management process and encompasses the development of internal geological and administrative systems, exploration planning and execution, plus project acquisition and deal completion.
Vincent is Managing Director of Australian Vanadium Ltd, (ASX: AVL). The company’s main asset is a high-grade vanadium deposit in Western Australia.
Vincent is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
Wanda brings more than 15 years of corporate development, corporate communications/branding, product marketing and investor relations experience to Nemaska Lithium. Wanda has been part of the Nemaska Lithium team since the Company’s inception and works closely with the CEO Mr. Guy Bourassa. Yury Makarov has been the Chief Executive Officer of IRC Limited of Petropavlovsk PLC since August 25, 2010. Yury served as Chief Operating Officer of IRC Limited (alternate name, is Aricom PLC) and also as its Operations Director since April 2009. He has been actively involved in the development of Aricom Plc titanium dioxide business since 2002.
Yury Makarov served as Group Head of Non-Precious Metals Operations of Petropavlovsk PLC (formerly Peter Hambro Mining plc) until 2010. He served as Advisor to the President of OJSC Pokrovsky Rudnik, a subsidiary of Petropavlovsk PLC. Prior to this, he served as Commercial Director of NT Computers in Moscow, Russia.
Yury Makarov has been an Executive Director of IRC Limited since June 4, 2010 and served the same position from April 26, 2004 to April 22, 2004. He is a Qualified Systems Engineer from the Moscow State Aircraft Technology Institute in 1998.
