The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) is the State’s lead agency in the regulation of the mining and petroleum industry. DMIRS provides approvals related to mineral and petroleum titles, collects royalties and ensures that industry maintains the highest standards in health, safety and environmental stewardship.

Within DMIRS, the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) gathers, synthesises and publishes information on the State’s geology and mineral and petroleum resources producing a huge volume of books, reports, maps and data delivered through state-of-the-art databases for the benefit of the Western Australian community including the mining and petroleum industries.
