Mr. Margulis is presently General Counsel and Senior Managing Director of MaxEn Capital Advisors, Ltd., a division of Aeicon Corp., a British Virgin Islands-based private capital and financial advisory firm with thirty (30) years of successful projects across the energy and natural resources sector in North, Central and South America, the Caribbean Basin, Europe, the former Soviet Union, Africa and Asia.

Mr. Margulis is an international energy, natural resources and general technology transaction specialist with both legal and investment bank/private equity expertise in sourcing, negotiating, structuring and completing transactions across the full range of energy and natural resources, infrastructure, transportation and advanced/clean technology matters, including mining, oil and gas, petrochemical, advanced power production, clean-tech/renewables, agribusiness (including fertilizer inputs), shale gas and shale oil/tar sands processing, fracking, on-shore and subsea drilling, LNG, solar, ethanol, biofuel, clean coal/coal gasification, hydro/hydrokinetic, lithium and battery metals extraction and processing and geothermal power production.

Mr. Margulis is regarded as a leading transaction advisor in M&A, Private Equity, Project Finance and PSA matters across the globe in energy and resource deals, including some of the largest and most important completed transactions in the last 30 years.  Mr. Margulis was previously a member of the Energy and Natural Resources Transactions Group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and a law partner of several other global firms including Baker & McKenzie, Holland & Knight LLP and Troutman Sanders LLP. Mr. Margulis has extensive experience in Asia and the Middle East with regard to SWF and SOE energy, mining, advanced technology and infrastructure matters and is a trusted advisor for many such entities.

Mr. Margulis graduated from Northwestern University (B.A., cum laude, 1984) and the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1987) where he also completed a joint law and (Stuart) business school program on Energy and Environmental Law and Policy.
